Tēnā koutou ngā mātua o te kura – Dear Parents

A special welcome to our new students:

Kahukura Raheke

Nirvana Raheke

LJ Raheke

Winter is definitely here!  Wrap up warmly but please ensure the children are coming to school in their uniforms.  We have extra second hand fleeces (although if anyone has outgrown their uniform please send it into the office) and are putting in another request for jackets from KidsCan.

As you will be aware the children have been tested this week.  Staff will be meeting over the next few weeks to look at the data and discuss next steps for learning.  The data helps inform you by written report how your child is doing.  Fortunately without National Standards, we are able to look closely at how much PROGRESS they have made.  Reports will be out one week before the beginning of the school holidays if you would like to discuss them with their teachers.

If you had an individual photograph organised for your children, you need to be aware that something went wrong with the photos and Photolife will be back here on the 12th of June to take them again.  They apologise for the inconvenience.

There is a FOS meeting in the staffroom on Tuesday the 5th at 5:15pm.  Bring your ideas and a friend.

Reminder that there is a whole school whānau hui on the 19th of June at 5:15pm in Room 9.

Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Te Aranga Disco on Friday, Juniors begin at 5:30pm until 7:30pm then Seniors are from 7:30pm until 9:00pm.

Enjoy Queen’s Birthday week-end.

BAREFOOT SEVEN

Tuapapa Open Weights travelled to Hastings with 9 players based around Central Hawke’s Bay to compete against 4 different Barefoot 7s teams. There were no finals it went straight to pool play, most wins take all

Teams were TKKM O Tankinui O Dannevirke, Maraenui, Heretaunga Intermediate and Twyford.

Tuapapa beat every team without a point scored against, them leaving the field with a high count of tries.  Big thanks to Onyxx Reti for filling in for Jacob Taylor who got injured early in the campaign.

Onyxx’s courage lifted the boys when he made a break, stepped a couple of defenders and ran over a 13 year old boy.

Many thanks to Paora Reti (coach) Matua Ben and Matua Hapuku.

As an old student, (Paora Reti) from Terrace, who has travelled to that tournament as a player said it was a privilege to have had the coaching roll to take such a talented group of boys as he doesn’t remember even coming close to winning. “I’m very proud of you all as you should be proud of yourselves, well done boys”.
